Patsy Kell Patsy has produced private commissions and large works for gardens and parks. A recent commission was for Forestway Special Needs School, Leicestershire with 4 multi-coloured Ancaster standing stones representing the four elements giving a pathway of discovery for pupils, staff and visitors. Working for over 15 years, based in Derbyshire, Patsy’s work represents a return to classical technique. Her passion for working with stone was inspired by Michelangelo who revealed the image within the stone, and Isamu Noguchi with his love of texture and shape.
Patsy’s background as teacher, lecturer and working with special needs children, especially the visually impaired, informs her work. Her bubbly personality, enthusiasm, love of craftsmanship and attention to detail - perfectionism even - all reflect in her work. She also has a particular interest in storytelling and folklore. All this combines within her unique but highly accessible style of artworks.
Patsy's next Art Exhibition: 4th - 5th April 2009
At the start of April there will be an exciting exhibition of paintings, prints, quilts, ceramics and stone sculpture by ten local Derbyshire artists, following the theme of “Primavera” or spring. Every artist has a story to tell which is expressed dynamically in his or her chosen medium. Strong figurative images exhibited inside the old Georgian home of Patsy Kell, contrast with the textured sculpture which is sited outside in the garden. Handmade quilts will make you cosy and enhance your décor whilst specially crafted cakes will delight both the eye and the body. This eclectic exhibition will inspire and enthuse both fellow artists and collectors! |
